Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Welden. Plain language first, the legal detail after.

Effective: August 17, 2026  ·  Last updated: August 17, 2026

The short version.

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Welden Home, Inc. (“Welden,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of weldenhome.com, the Welden exposure assessment, the Welden web and mobile applications, the Welden assistant, any camera or scanning feature we offer, and our emails (together, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and why, and which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

1. Who can use Welden

You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States. Welden is designed around United States exposure data, regulations, and retailers, and we do not offer it to children. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that you are using Welden for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

2. Your account

You can take the assessment and see a score without an account. If you create one, you agree to give us an accurate email address, to keep your password confidential, and to tell us promptly at hello@weldenhome.com if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings, which removes your profile, snapshots, goals, and preferences as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. What Welden is, and what it is not

What it is

Welden is an informational modeling tool. You answer questions about your habits and your household. We run those answers through a statistical exposure model built from published, peer reviewed research and public datasets, and we return an estimate of your exposure to contaminants such as microplastics, phthalates, BPA, PFAS, VOCs, pesticides, heavy metals, and UV filters. We then suggest changes that our model projects would lower that estimate.

What it is not

Welden is not a diagnostic tool. To be explicit:

Always talk to a qualified healthcare professional about any health question, symptom, or decision. Never disregard professional medical advice, and never delay seeking it, because of something you read on Welden. If you think you have a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

How accurate the estimate is

Exposure science is uncertain and our model is a simplification. Where you skip a question, we substitute a typical United States adult value, so your score reflects your answers plus typical habits for anything you have not told us. Underlying research, public datasets, and our own model change over time, and your score can change when they do, even if nothing about your life changed. We publish our approach at How Welden works. We do not warrant that any estimate, projection, percentile, or recommendation is accurate, complete, or current.

4. Photos, camera features, and room scanning

Some parts of the Service let you use your device camera to help complete your assessment, for example by photographing or scanning a room so that Welden can suggest which items might be present. These features exist to save you typing. They do not, on their own, decide anything about you.

The affirmative confirmation rule

Nothing that appears in a photo or scan becomes part of your profile or your score unless you affirmatively tell us that you own and use that product. The image is used to generate candidate suggestions. You then select, correct, add, remove, or ignore them. An item you do not confirm is not recorded as yours, is not counted in your exposure estimate, and is not used to generate recommendations. If an image suggestion is wrong, you are free to reject it, and we ask that you do.

Because visual identification is imperfect, you are responsible for the accuracy of what you confirm. Do not confirm a product you do not actually use. Your score is only as good as the answers you give it.

How we handle the images

Your responsibility for what is in frame

You control your camera. By using a camera feature you confirm that you have the right to capture the space you are capturing, and you agree not to photograph or scan:

Camera features are optional. You can complete the entire assessment by answering questions directly, and declining to use a camera does not limit your access to your score.

5. Product recommendations, commissions, and purchases

We are paid on some purchases

Welden earns a commission on some purchases made through links on the Service. That includes affiliate programs operated by retailers such as Amazon, and direct commercial arrangements with brands. When you follow a link from Welden and buy something, the retailer or brand may pay us a percentage of the sale or a fixed referral fee.

Welden is a participant in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

We are not the seller

Welden does not sell, ship, warrant, or service any product we recommend. Every purchase is a transaction between you and the third party retailer or brand, governed by that company's own terms, prices, shipping policy, return policy, and warranty. We are not a party to it. We are not responsible for product availability, pricing errors, defects, injuries, delivery problems, refunds, or any dispute with a seller. Prices and availability shown on Welden may be out of date.

Projected results are projections

When we show what a change is expected to do to your score, that is a model output, not a promise. Actual products vary in performance, certifications change, and real world use differs from modeled use. We do not guarantee that buying or doing anything we recommend will reduce your actual exposure, change any biomarker, or produce any health benefit.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you provide: your assessment answers, photos, goals, assistant questions, feature votes, and any feedback (“Your Content”). You grant Welden a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty free license to host, store, process, reproduce, and display Your Content solely in order to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to provide it back to you, consistent with the Privacy Policy. This license ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for copies retained in routine backups and for anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer identify you.

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or feature ideas, you agree we may use them without obligation or compensation to you.

8. Our content

The Service, including the Welden name and marks, the exposure model, scores, the written research and methodology, the interface, and all software, is owned by Welden or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own use under these Terms. Everything not expressly granted is reserved. You may share your own score and your own results freely.

9. The Welden assistant

The assistant is powered by a third party large language model. It answers questions using our research corpus and the figures from your own score. Like all such systems, it can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, and it can misstate a study. Treat its answers as a starting point, not as an authority, and never as medical advice. The disclaimers in Section 3 apply in full to anything the assistant says.

10. Third party services and links

The Service links to and depends on third parties, including retailers, brands, laboratory testing partners, hosting, analytics, email, and artificial intelligence providers. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, products, practices, or availability. Any laboratory or biomarker testing offered through or alongside Welden is performed by an independent provider under its own terms, and its results belong to that provider's relationship with you, not ours.

11. Changes to the Service

Welden is under active development. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any feature, including the model itself, at any time and without notice. Your score can change when the model changes. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

12. Disclaimers

13. Limitation of liability

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Welden and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third party right, or content you captured or submitted, including photographs of people or property you did not have permission to capture.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use creates risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections 5, 7, 8, and 12 through 18 survive termination.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You and Welden agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Each party waives any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class or representative action. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking relief in small claims court.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date on this page, and for material changes we will notify account holders by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

18. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Welden regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
